My Top 5 Essentials for Traveling

Hello from Boston!

As I type this, I am overlooking beautiful downtown Massachusetts! My husband is from here originally and we found a good deal so…we booked it! We decided to surprise his brother and not tell him about our plans to visit which was so hard! It was worth it though because he was thoroughly surprised!

As some of you may know, I have an intense fear of planes. Last year I challenged that fear for the first time since I was young and flew 10 times! Through these experiences I have learned what not to do and what helps make traveling a little bit easier. In a future blog post I will share all my tips on how to lessen anxiety but for this blog post I am sharing my top 5 items on the go!

I love traveling and exploring new places but my fear stems from not knowing how I am going to feel (hello motion sickness). However, each time I fly, it gets easier and easier.

So, these are a few things that I use in my daily life that also made this trip a little less stressful. Even if you are not flying anytime soon, these are great to take anywhere on the go!

My Top 5 Essentials for Traveling:

1.  Stasher Bags

On Earth Day this year, I purchased my very first set of Stasher bags * at a 30% discount price and I have been using them to organize anything and everything since! I had my eyes on these Stashers for some time but I was not sure if they were worth the cost. I love having things organized and these see-through 100% pure platinum food-grade silicone reusable bags are so versatile. I have already used them for storing avocado halves (which kept them from going brown for about a week!), soaking cashews, freezing grapes to bring to the beach, and now, storing all my goodies on this trip!  Not only are they microwavable and freezer safe but you can cook and bake with them too! In an effort to reduce plastic, these have become my new favorite staple!

2. Ginger Chews

I have been a long time fan of Gin-Gins*. These chewy ginger candies are nice to snack on when your ears are popping. They also have helped settle my stomach before getting in a car or train. The spicy yet subtle sweet flavor of these are addictive and help me calm down when in motion. They come in a few other flavors too!

3. Rebbl Elixirs

These adaptogenic coconut milk based drinks are soooo soothing. I love this dark chocolate flavor because it has maca, ashwagandha, reishi and 16 grams of plant based protein! A few of my other favorite Rebbl flavors are the Turmeric Golden Milk for after running, Matcha Latte for when I need a boost in the morning, and Spicy Chai because…it is full of all my favorite spices, craft brewed assam and ashwagandha! I stock up when these babies go on sale! They are so smooth and creamy, and make me feel so relaxed. No gums, natural flavors, or thickeners are used, just clean ingredients from roots, extracts, berries, barks, and leaves! This company is doing amazing things using all organic ingredients that are fairly traded. Each purchase helps support a non profit called Not For Sale in the fight against human trafficking!

4. Nuun Tabs

I am always trying to keep my hydration game strong but I have a hard time drinking plain water. These little tabs come in handy because the more hydrated I am, the less severe my motion sickness symptoms are. Nuun Tabs * are full of electrolytes, vitamins and minerals. My favorite flavor is the Tropical or Strawberry Lemonade! Although, I do like to have a variety of flavors on hand. These clean tabs are gluten free, dairy free, and soy free and contain less than 1 gram of sugar sourced from monk fruit and stevia leaf extract for a lightly sweet flavor. They contain sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, vitamin c which are all crucial in maintaining optimal hydration. The more hydrated you are the better you feel and your body has an easier time absorbing nutrients.

5. Swell Bottle

I seriously can’t get over how in love I am with this marble Swell * 12 oz travel mug. I try to always have this mug with me because it is durable, light weight and convenient for using for any hot or cold beverage at home or at a coffee shop! The top is wide enough to clean inside easily which is something I really appreciate in a reusable bottle. This mug does keep hot beverages hot for hours and cold beverages nice and chilled which is something that was lacking in my previous to go mugs. It is not awkward to hold and the lid secures tightly so no worries about spilling. I meant to bring my frother on this trip, but I forgot, so next time I whip up a beverage on the go, I will let you know how it goes!

Your Turn:
