I am here to inspire you lovely humans through my story and to empower you to embrace yourself.
I left my dream career as a professionally trained pastry chef in 2014 when I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. Self care became a necessity. Hopelessly frustrated, I was trying to figure out my new purpose and was introduced to a whole new way of living. I started to eat vegan and gluten free to manage my symptoms. I came across Aromatherapy and researched all I could about non toxic living. I found myself making homemade products and eating tempeh.
I was struggling to find a career that I was just as passionate about. At the beginning of 2018, I decided to face my fears and go back to school. So now, I am a third year full-time student pursuing my Master's in Nutrition Science and planning to be a future anti-diet registered dietitian! I am taking one day at a time, but I am determined. Being a Culinary Institute of America alumni with an Associates in Baking and Pastry Arts, I am excited to one day combine the two paths and create a new sustainable career.
I blog about intuitive eats, my favorite spots in Chicago (and occasionally elsewhere), recovery, mental health, gratitude, what I am learning in school, mindful + eco-friendly living and anything health and wellness. Although, my idea of true health and wellness keeps evolving. Occasionally, my cats Cinnamon and Bazil make an appearance. So, to give them their own space, I started their very own instagram handle. If you want to see more of them follow along at @twotailsofjoy.
I believe true joy starts with embracing healthier thoughts and challenging the oppression and stigma around YOUR full health. I am not here to tell you what is going to work for YOU, only you can be the expert on that.
I hope to inspire you with my stories of self discovery.

I am a Chicago-based photographer. Born and raised in the Chicago area, I moved out to California to pursue a career in film a few years back. While working in indie film distribution with The Representation Project in San Francisco, I fell in love with the sweeping landscapes of the Bay Area- the Golden Gate Bridge I drove across every day on my way to work, the rolling hills of the city and surprise views over every one, the sunrises from Mount Tamalpais in Marin County, the sunsets at Ocean Beach. When I came across a stunning view, my first instinct was to share it with the people I cared about. So I got a camera and started shooting every chance I could.
