Planting seeds in 2018...
I am here to inspire you through my story and hopefully empower you to embrace yourself. After leaving my dream career as a professionally trained pastry chef in 2014 due to a back injury and new autoimmune diagnosis, self care became a necessity. Hopelessly frustrated, I was trying to figure out my new purpose and was introduced to a whole new way of living. I started to eat more whole foods and gluten free foods to manage my symptoms. I came across aromatherapy and researched all I could about non toxic living. I found myself making homemade products and eating tempeh. And I was struggling to find a career that I was just as passionate about. At the beginning of 2018, I decided to face my fears and go back to school. I am now registration eligible as a recent grad student of the Accelerated MSCP at University of Chicago, College of Applied Health Sciences. Currently, I am pursuing an anti-diet registered dietitian nutritionist route with a focus on plant-forward nutrition and advocacy! I am taking one day at a time, but I am determined. As a Culinary Institute of America alumni with an Associates in Baking and Pastry Arts, I am excited to one day combine these two paths and create a new sustainable career.

I blog about intuitive eats, my favorite spots in Chicago (and occasionally elsewhere), recovery, mental health, gratitude, what I learned and continue to learn post grad school, mindful + eco-friendly living and anything health and wellness. Although, my idea of true health and wellness keeps evolving. Occasionally, my cats Cinnamon and Bazil make an appearance. So, to give them their own space, I started their very own Instagram handle. If you want to see more of them follow along at @twotailsofjoy.

I believe true joy starts with embracing healthier thoughts and challenging the oppression and stigma around YOUR full health. I am not here to tell you what is going to work for YOU, only you can be the expert on that. I hope to inspire you with my stories of self discovery.
